It also makes use of a "call and response" melodic technique, unison bass/electric guitar lines, a single chord improvisation for one soloist, and the use of both non-diatonic root movements and augmented chords for another. This piece, in a predetermined and rhythmic way, also makes use of some extended techniques, exploring the sounds that can be made by the sax, trombone, and trumpet sections.
